[Dspam-user] dspam signature in message messing up attachments

John Kenyon
Hi Dspam Admins,

Has anyone experienced issues with the DSPAM signature (signatureLocation=message) breaking attachments?

On occasion we receive messages that contain attachments only, the headers will specify  "Content-Type: application/pdf" and will not be multipart... when DSPAM adds the signature to the message it prevents users from being able to open the attachments in their MUA as it breaks the base64 encoding.

If you open the .eml files and remove "!DSPAM:9879,558c729826111325514827!" in the message, the attachments will then open fine in the MUA.

Regards,

John Kenyon

* sorry - If you open the .eml files and remove the DSPAM signature in the message, the attachments will  then open fine in the MUA.

Hi John,

Yes. The entire process of trying to correctly insert the signature
into a MIME message is a bad idea. Changing the message content itself
is a bad idea. Please only insert the signature header. When we started
with DSPAM years ago, most Email was text and not HTML. That is not the
case today. We are unfortunately still dealing with the fallout from
our original default configuration.

Regards,
Ken
